  • Encourage young adults to use their gifts and talents at church

  • Run a variety of social events 

  • Link your church with student organisations such as Fusion and Student Christian Movement

  • Maintain a decent church website

  • Consider alternative locations for meetings such as Costa Coffee

  • Start a community board games café 

  • Offer free food

  • Collaborate with community sports groups

  • Consider running an afternoon or evening service

  • Publicise events using the app ‘Meet Up’

  • If you run Messy Church, have a volunteer talking to the parents

  • Start a community or family film club

  • Start a regular young adults home group

  • Run a social action project in your local area

  • Boost events and posts on Facebook

  • Try running an alternative service such Café Church, Messy Church or a Taizé Service

  • Make links with young adults through Occasional Offices

  • Think about the aesthetics of your meeting space

  • Use social media to engage with young adults throughout the week

  • Connect with other churches running young adults ministry

  • Ask young adults what they value about your church and ideas they have for the future

  • Spend time building relationships with parents at parent and toddler groups

  • Prayer walk around the parish

  • Make connections with Christian Unions at local colleges

  • Flyer the parish to promote events. 

  • Invest in children’s ministry, as this also grows the parents’ faith
